Today we are graced with the presence of award-winning author, Pamela S. Thibodeaux, Co-Founder and a lifetime member of Bayou Writers Group in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Pamela is multi-published in romantic fiction as well as creative non-fiction. Her writing is tagged as, “Inspirational with an Edge!” ™ and reviewed as “steamier and grittier than the typical Christian novel without decreasing the message.”
Karla: Pamela, I love your last name. It’s an old, southern, French name with so much history. I used it for one of my characters in my book, O Canada! Her Story in the chapter about Acadia. Thanks for sharing your story with us today. I’m eager to hear all about your writing space. Grab a cuppa readers, and I’ll let Pamela take it from here.
Pamela: Once upon a time I lived in a three bedroom house, one of which I turned into an office complete with bookshelves that hosted my books (those I wrote and those in my Read/TBR piles) and awards, wall shelves for pictures of loved ones, closet space for storage, treadmill (to stave off stiffness from sitting at the desk so long) and other things necessary for an aspiring/published author to work comfortably.
That all changed in 2010 when I rented out my home and began travelling back and forth to Bandera, Texas. From then until now, I’ve lived and worked in a bedroom in someone else’s house.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not comfortable or don’t get anything accomplished!
As a human being on a quest to discover new depths of spirituality I enjoy studying and learning techniques used by people for thousands of years…mediation and mantras, affirmations and journaling, energy and efficiency…So it was a lot of fun to arrange my current living/work space is in the newly refurbished room in the home I grew up in based on Feng Shui principles I gleaned from my good friend Jillian Lambert.
My desk is centered on the right wall of the room which is the “creative” area. Since I wanted to–well create–an area conducive to creativity I framed several inspirational pictures and quotes and placed it above the desk.
On top I placed more inspiration (cups, a painting my granddaughter did and plaques).
In the cubbyholes are prayers to St Francis deSales (patron Saint of writers & journalists), Archangel Gabriel (messenger of God) and Archangel Michael (for life’s purpose). I also have laminated scriptures that were sent to me from my friends at Seekerville and mini-vision boards expressing dreams, desires and goals for my writing career
Last but certainly not least, a cross (a wall isn’t complete without one!) The end result is an entire field of creative inspiration and energy.
Now, as much fun as this was and regardless of what I or anyone else believes about the validity of Feng Shui, I know and understand that God is the author of (and in charge of my) success so please don’t think I put more faith into this space/practice than I do Him!
All I know is I love the way my work area looks and feels. In fact, I love the way this entire room looks and feels.
And feeling good is important when you spend as much time in a single room as I do.

Set at the tail end of the Vietnam War era, Circles of Fate takes the reader from Fort Benning, Georgia to Thibodaux, Louisiana. A romantic saga, this gripping novel covers nearly twenty years in the lives of Shaunna Chatman and Todd Jameson. Constantly thrown together and torn apart by fate, the two are repeatedly forced to choose between love and duty, right and wrong, standing on faith or succumbing to the world’s viewpoint on life, love, marriage and fidelity. With intriguing twists and turns, fate brings together a cast of characters whose lives will forever be entwined. Through it all is the hand of God as He works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Thanks, Delia! I’d love to host yours sometime!
I enjoyed the interview, also. Very interesting about the Feng Shui. I have my desk on the right side in the old office, purely by accident. Thanks for sharing your writing space with us.

Traveling around probably limits your clutter. My work room is a mess, but each time I come in here determined to clean up and throw out, I decide against wasting the quiet time––an opportunity to write. I plan to clean up my writing space as soon as the Muse stops. There will be plenty of time then, right? I’ve been putting off for 33 years now. Tomorrow morning, I am going to clean and toss in here for 30 minutes. I’ll set a timer. Good plan. It ought to work. Thanks for showing us your tidy space. I hate to think of renting out and traveling to escape my undisciplined self.

Oh, Sharon, can I relate! I just looked in my office this morning and thought the exact same thing. But it’s got to be done so I can share my space. LOL. My family thinks my office is a storage closet!
I hear you Sharon LOL but sometimes we have to do something completely different in order to find a new normal. This decision came after my husband passed away and I just COULDN’T stay stuck in that house…Thankfully I found escape and healing from the crippling grief.

First off, love your blog, Karla! It’s beautiful! Pam, so nice to see where you work. My office right now is a work in progress. I had to kick my boys out first, as it was there bedroom. Now the walls need some serious repair work done to them as having housed to lively lads for eighteen years they are seriously scarred! I can’t wait to get it all in order and finally have a place all my own! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
Wow! That’s what you get for pushing send without proofreading! Ahem, change that to *their* and *two*. Note to self: never write anything directly after napping!
Your writing space appears to be inspirational in many ways. I love my own space, a loft, because I can look left and see our serene lake whenever I want or need to. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks MJ (yeah I have to check twice before hitting the submit button LOL!)
Oh Susan, your loft sounds lovely….my dream home is built of logs with a loft….maybe one day.
Thank you Both for stopping by and commenting!
