My favorite sound in the world is rain. Sprinkle in a tiny bit of thunder, and I’m in moody heaven. Rain helps me think. Rain makes me want to curl up with a blanket and a book and read. Some people listen to Pandora while they work. And I do, too, sometimes. But my favorite go-to sound for drowning out the world is rain.
Fortunately for me, there’s a website where this beautiful sound is available: http://www.rainymood.com/.
You’re welcome.

Love a rainy day! And I bookmarked the rainy mood site. Perfect for writing (I’ll switch between it and coffeetivity). Thanks for sharing!

Cool, Tom. I love it that you like the same noisemakers I do. Write on!
Oh yeah! I love rain and rainy days! Love them. 🙂 The only sound better than rain is the ocean. There’s just something about listening to the surf roll in. It’s like the deep cycle of rain. LoL. Of course, those aren’t usually handy when I write, so I turn to Mozart and Vivaldi. =]

Have to agree with you on the ocean. Being landlocked most of my life, I’ve not had the pleasure of hearing one on a daily basis so I don’t always think of that. Mozart and Vivaldi are awesome, too. I enjoy listening to Yo-Yo Man. Cello music is my favorite.
Rainy days make me sleepy and lethargic. I just want to curl under a blanket with a good book. I like to work while listening to classical music.
Love your new look here!

Thanks, Barbara! Yes, a rainy day can make me sleepy, too. 🙂
I love white noise when I write, I can’t listen to music because I concentrate on the chord transitions and lyrics instead of the story in my head. So I will definitely be trying rainymood.com out. Thanks! (and thanks for checking out my blog 🙂

I’m like you when it comes to music. I know too much about it. I find cello music is the best music for me for some reason. Maybe it’s the low tones. Rarely do I listen to music with lyrics unless I need to get into that era of time in my head. Often I like to listen to movie soundtracks to develop a certain mood for myself. White noise is the best, though! Thanks for checking out my blog! 🙂
I also love the sound of rain. So relaxing! I actually do best with silence, though it’s rarely a reality for me. Words distract me too, so when I do listen to music while I work, it needs to be instrumental. May just have to try the rain site.
Thanks!

I’m the same way with music, Joanne. Sometimes I just can’t listen to it due to the words or the chord changes and instruments (I can pick them out and start listening to the technique).
There’s enough “background noise”in this house, though! LOL. Still, rain is my fave! Thanks for stopping by and reading!
Two of our favorite recordings are One Stormy Night and One Stormy Weekend. (Instrumental) Music AND rain bring out the aaahhhhhssss of relaxation. Love your blog. I’ve added rain.com to my faves. God Bless.
