Welcome to Day 12 of our Countdown to Christmas!
Today’s Random Act of Kindness is one that many folks probably aren’t comfortable with. If you’d like to do this anonymously, let me know, and I will send a card or letter for you. You can send me what you’d like the letter to say via email and I’ll gladly send it along.
Today’s Random Act of Kindness
Write to someone in prison.
If you’d like all the random acts of kindness in one list, email me and I’ll send you a copy.
Besides nursing homes, the prisons are full of forgotten, rejected people. Like it or not, they are still part of the human race and outrageously loved by God. Many of the prisoners are inside for crimes of habit. Because of drug or alcohol abuse, they’ve made poor choices. Since the three strikes ruling, our prisons are overflowing.
If you’d like to know more about how to help children of prisoners, a great program to be part of is here: Angel Tree of Prison Fellowship. This beautiful program helps provide gifts to children whose parents are in prison. That’s the worst part of our flawed justice system. It tears families apart.
Today’s Scripture
Luke 2:9-14, TLB
Suddenly an angel appeared among them, and the landscape shone bright with the glory of the Lord. They were badly frightened,
10 but the angel reassured them.“Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone!
11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born tonight in Bethlehem!
12 How will you recognize him? You will find a baby wrapped in a blanket, lying in a manger!”
13 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God:
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,” they sang,“and peace on earth for all those pleasing him.”
